Registration for 2012 Orchard Lake Camps will begin February 15th.

 START THE SUMMER RIGHT WITH SCIENCE CAMPS!!!
Imagineers Camp

Spend 5 days with Orchard Lake St.Mary's staff and certified elementary and middle school teachers exploring the historic grounds of Orchard Lake campus and Orchard Lake. Enjoy learning from this talented group of educators as they build and demonstrate egg dynamics, the power of magnetism, the physics of flight, water properties, green energy and other enthralling science phenomena. Campers are encouraged to develop, construct, and build their scientific imagination at an early age. Let your kids become part of the exciting summer camp while discovering their personal scientific niche at Orchard Lake. Camp is limited, so please register early to secure a spot.

 

Students will be broken onto age appropriate groups.
Chicken Group: 5-7 Years Old
Beetles Group: 8-10 Years Old
Lizards Group: 11 and up

  Plan, draw and construct a spaghetti bridge which will be tested by campers.
Egg Drop - Develop and construct a device to protect and egg using household items.
Water Balloon Catapult - Learn trajectory and angels by launching balloons at objects.
Learn about basic physics concepts such as energy and motion through fun take home projects.
Physics of Flight - Building and testing a rubber powered airplane

 •  Investigation into alternative energy solutions such as solar power

Introduction to Astronomy and the Solar System

Imagineers Camp

SEEDS Science Camp

Join a week long science adventure with Orchard Lake St. Mary's staff along with certified elementary and middle school teachers, exploring the scientifically bountiful and historic grounds of Orchard Lake. Campers will tour Apple Island and visit the watery depths of Orchard Lake, along with many other fun and exciting Earth Science activities. SEEDS campers develop scientific curiosity and an early understanding of the physics of nature. SEEDS camp goal is to provide fun-filled atmosphere which inspires a love of science and the wonders of nature while following elementry and middle state curriculum standards. Camp is limited; please register early to secure a spot.

Boys Basketball Day Camps

Since 1977, more than 32,000 campers have attended our summer camps. Campers stay on the campus of the Orchard Lake Schools in a semi-private dorm room under the supervision of the camp staff (5:1Camper/Counselor). Our coaching staff is committed to providing the best possible learning environment for campers to grow and develop to the best of their ability. Our goal of the camp is to provide a fun-filled atmosphere conducive to developing a love for the game

 Coach George Porritt helps campers learn about themselves through the roller coaster experiences with sports while providing an excellent role model along with the coaches and counselors hired to work at any of the camps. Coach Porritt’s goal is to provide a fun-filled atmosphere conducive to developing a love for the game.

Big Ten Division - Lower Elementary
College Division - Upper Elementary
NBA East - Middle School
NBA West - High School

• 10:1 Camper/staff ratio - High School Coaches, Former All-American Players, College Coaches, College Basketball Players
• 2 Full Court Games each day
• Nutritional Lunches prepared daily

• Awards - Free-throw Champion, Mikan Drill Champion, Spot Shooting Champion, Hustle Award, Most Improved Award, Best Attitude Award, Most Valuable Player Award and Daily Camp Champ Awards

LOMAS BROWN’S PLAYER ENHANCEMENT FOOTBALL CAMP
 
Lomas Brown’s Player Enhancement Camp 2011

Ages: Grade 8-12
Time: 9:00am – 3:00pm
 
The Orchard Lake St. Mary’s School will host a Lineman Football Camp lead by former NFL star, 7x All-Pro offensive lineman and Superbowl Champion, Lomas Brown.  Former Detroit Lions lineman hosts camps across the country each year, focusing on the lineman positions.  Campers will have the opportunity to work directly with Lomas, other NFL guests and more to develop and focus on defensive and offensive lineman skills and techniques.
This is a serious football camp, devoted to individual improvement of each camper.
All Campers divided by age and skill level
Enrollment is limited; please register early to secure a spot.
Camp includes:
  • Lunches for all campers
  • Awards: Best Offensive Lineman, Best Defensive Lineman, etc.
  • Camp shirts: Every Player will receive Official Camp Shirt
  • Footwork, pass protection, run blocking (veer and trap included), rip, spin and swim moves, tackling techniques, gap control and more.
  • PLUS…gifts from Lomas Brown himself for each camper to take with them

Football Camp

The Orchard Lake Football Camp develops a love for this great game. Campers will have the opportunity to develop offensive and defensive skills along with a positive mental approach. Under the direction of 3 time State Championship Coach George Porritt, campers will develop a passion for football and learn what it takes to realize their dreams and reach their personal goals. This is a serious football camp, devoted to individual improvement of each camper. Enrollment is limited; please register early to secure a spot.

All Campers divided by age and skill level
Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Offensive/Defensive Lineman, Wide Receivers and Defensive Backs

Quarterbacks - Footwork, Snaps, Ball Handling, passing, route reading, option techniques and more
Running Backs - Footwork, Ball Security, speed training, reading lanes, blocking, pass routes and more
Offensive/Defensive Line - Footwork, pass protection, run blocking (veer and trap included), rip, spin and swim moves, tackling techniques, gap control and more
Wide Receivers/Tight ends - Footwork, route running, receiving, blocking, releasing, pass routes and speed training
Linebackers - Footwork, tackling, gap control, alignment, zone/man coverage, speed, agility and shedding blocks
Defensive Backs - Footwork, agility, speed training, zone/man coverage, run support, jamming receivers, shedding blocks and breaking on the ball
Special Teams - Kicking, Punting, long snaps, kickoff coverage and more
